CENTRETOWN
The stars of CBC Television Ottawa will be conducting a dramatic reading, with music, of Charles Dickens's classic "A Christmas Carol," at Dominion-Chalmers United Church, 355 Cooper Street in Centretown, on Sunday, December 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are $15, and are available at Leishman Books in the Westgate Mall, or the CBC Broadcast Centre, 181 Queen Street. All proceeds go to support local charities.
CBC's Share Central: A Week of Giving, will culminate with a free, all day concert outside of the CBC Broadcast Centre, 181 Queen Street, between Bank and O'Connor in Centretown, on Friday, December 11. A live, on-air broadcast for the "All in a Day" program, will be broadcast from the Sparks Street Mall between 5 and 6 p.m. on CBC Radio One, 91.5 FM. Share Central is a CBC community event that raises funds for Ottawa charities.
The Cathedral Women's Group will be hosting its annual Holly Tea and Bazaar on Saturday, November 28 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at Christ Church Cathedral Ottawa, 420 Sparks Street. Tea will be served at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 each. For more information, please call 613-236-9149. Browse and buy at boutiques featuring jams, jellies, relishes, baking, deli products, china, linens, silver, jewelry, knitting, sewing, crafts, travel items, toys and accessories. The Cathedral Boys' Choir will sing at 1 p.m. and the Girls' Choir will sing at 3 p.m. At 2 p.m., enjoy a fashion show highlighting apparel from the Nearly New Shoppe.
Christ Church Cathedral, at the intersection of Sparks Street and Bronson Avenue, will be holding its annual Holly Tea and Bazaar on Saturday, November 28, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. There will be three tea sittings at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Tea tickets are $10. For more information, please call 613-236-9149.
Centretown Citizens Community Association meets on the third Tuesday of each month, usually in the Billings Room of Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West.
LOWERTOWN
A pancake breakfast will be held every second Sunday of the month, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. Brigid's Centre, home of the National Irish Canadian Cultural Centre, 310 St. Patrick Street.
